The temperatures have been on the rise this week. Some melting has finally occurred. There is lawn visible out front where the sun hits, and the creek is flowing from the melting. The Air is warming when there is not a gale force wind blowing. It is ugly out there!
Ugly you say?! the snow is dirty along the highway and streets in town. still head high in some places like parking lots, but with a covering of black and gray. Exhaust from cars and trucks. Gravel from pot holes is in evidence.
Here at home.. the snow is peppered with pine needles, bits of bark and twigs and piles of dog dirt. The path we walk is ice just covering the surface, but the ground all around is still covered with several inches of soft dirty snow. lots of branches down that will need to be picked up eventually. The open ground is ...squishy.. melt that has no place to flow just lays on the surface.
This is the " things get worse before they get better" time. Spring is coming. with a few more days of melting the snow drops will be up and open. people are talking about the height of the daffodils under the snow.
February is more than 1/2 over. every day is one less day of winter and one day sooner for spring. I hope we have an average spring, not too cold or wet. Looking forward to flowers blooming.
