WHOOOO ARE YOU?

Last nights' dog walking netted a pair of great horned owls hunting very close to the house.

Must be a mated pair,  as you hear them calling back and forth while moving through the woods.  They definitely were sweeping the property south from the highway,  North to the woods and  all along the east side of the house.  The prey?   Probably rabbits and mice that come to the bird feeding stations in the dead of the night to scarf up the fallen seed.  What an eerie sound though to open the kitchen door, stand on the screened in porch and hear the sound so close by.

I kept  the little girls in until i could no longer hear the Owls. While not  not rabbit sized, they are small enough and interested in the same rabbit scented areas as the Owls.  Better not to chance any type of bird vs dog altercation in the dark.

Life in the country..... always something interesting going on.
