Not a hoot....

My second  experience with owls here in the country.......

Years ago, an owl caught a rabbit in the back yard. The rabbit was enjoying the bird seed i had put out during an extended snowy period. Unaware, the Owl  arrived and claimed its victim. I would think the rabbit put up some sort of a fight, as the evidence the next morning was a bloody area and scattered snow where the seed had been.  The scene was right out of a godfathers' movie and i wondered if we had made some sort of country enemies.

As the city girl, i called the neighbor across the road to come over and investigate.  He was kind enough to humor me but pronounced it an Owl kill during the night. A few days later, during a dog walk,   I came across a rabbit head, one of many i would find over the years.


Life in the country can sometimes be Yucky!
