4-8-2011 still friday part 2

Over the years i have planted many interesting plants only to find we had too much sun or shade or some other condition precluded the plants from flourishing.  What is happy in the environment moved to it's preferred location.  So Spring is a time to wander & wonder.  To see what is coming up and where.

Here is a bed that i have tried many different plants in with little success. Too much shade. You can see what is happy here, lung wort and garden Phlox.

Hopefully with the trimming of trees the last few years we have opened up the heavy shade and will have a little more luck with some of the interesting plants available at the local nurseries.  Note the little yellow flowers. Those are all over the place and just starting to bloom. A carpet of green leaves punctuated by tiny yellow flowers. Over the years, like everything else here, they have grown and over grown  to be found all over the property and back on the preserved wood lot.  In a month they will be totally gone; flowers, leaves and all.  Strange little spring plant. They bloom the same time as the marsh marigolds, and are probably related.
